CARMEN

Her life and loves

Our version of 'Carmen' is set during the Spanish Civil War.

Don José is alone in his cell awaiting execution - reminiscing about his past life and the journey to his imminent demise. His memories become episodic and develop into scenes played out in his imagination involving Carmen, Micaëla and Escamillo.

Kent Chamber Opera’s inaugural production will feature an 8-piece orchestra performing a newly created musical arrangement. It’s intimate story telling will grip the audience and transport you to the spiralling events that lead to the doomed lover’s misfortune.

The company’s small and highly experienced team have put together a vibrant production to move and excite audiences with the aim of building a love for, and awareness of, this most involving of musical and theatrical experiences.
